Benjamin Justus is one of the few attorneys in the nation who has for years represented individuals, families and businesses that have been sued or threatened with suit for alleged internet-based copyright infringement by various owners of intellectual property in films, music, photographs and other works. He has assisted hundreds of parties who have been involved in such claims. His practice is expanding to include other aspects of liability arising from internet activities, including trademark infringement, defamation, and circumvention of protective technologies. He is admitted to practice in U.S. District courts in Oregon and Washington, and in collaboration with partners and co-counsel he is actively involved in copyright disputes on a national basis.
Ben also maintains a broader civil litigation practice in the state and federal courts of Washington, representing a wide array of clients in professional malpractice, insurance, construction, personal injury, commercial and employment matters. He is also involved in pursuing appellate matters arising from these areas.
Ben is also experienced in business, real property and elder law. He assists clients with the formation of corporations, limited liability companies and other business entities, and has prepared and reviewed agreements pertaining to the management, operation and sale of business assets and real estate.
In addition, Ben represents health care providers and residential care facilities with respect to licensing issues, governmental enforcement actions, employment matters, and other disputes.
Before forming Lybeck, Pedreira & Justus, PLLC, Ben practiced for several years with the Lybeck Murphy law firm as an associate attorney. Prior to that, Ben had a practice involving similar matters in New Jersey’s state and federal Courts and maintains his bar admission there.
